hello there, friend,
our first sunflowers from the garden were cut last night... immediately plopped into a jar with zinnias and set on our dining room table. they took my breath away in the light that came spilling into the room after a quick rain-shower we so desperately needed.
our kids have been running a flower stand for the third summer in a row, accepting donations for their efforts and giving some of it to charity. a local newspaper reporter who lives in our neighborhood come to our house to interview them about it. they stayed for over an hour, taking the time to get to know us a bit better, and to ask our kids some really great questions about their motivations and in particular, the charity they donate to, heifer international. it was fascinating to listen to their answers.
later, my husband and i strolled around the park across the street in the sweltering humidity that did not at all dissipate with the rain and had a really good conversation in which we found more questions than answers.
