hello there, friend,

the garden is bursting with corn and tomatoes, sunflowers and zinnias. i complain sometimes in my mind because i don't want to work any more than i already do to keep things going around here... but, i've learned in the past week or two that early morning or evening in the garden, cutting flowers or picking corn, feels like meditation... it requires that i slow down. all of a sudden my senses come alive... the feel of the breeze on my skin, my bare feet touching the earth, corn stalks brushing my legs. i see the most amazing contrasts in color, occasionally spotting a butterfly, sphinx moth, or even hummingbird. listening to blue jays and crows, katydids, cicadas, and crickets, and i am grateful for a few minutes to be. here. now.

xo,
b
