hello there, friend,
yesterday was an ordinary day for us. i have been thinking about these ordinary days... spaced in between the highs and lows that ebb and flow throughout our weeks and months. on an ordinary sunday, we do church, we run errands, we make lists, kids work on homework, we take turns encouraging and asking questions, we rotate laundry and hit the grocery store, kids bicker.
on an ordinary sunday we often head to the pond at some point. this oasis is about a ten minute drive from our house, in the national forest. we head here for a bit of observation and reflection. i relish this time without technology, a chance to engage our senses fully, to sit quietly, or jump into brackish water to catch turtles. on an ordinary sunday the evening light falls in the most beautiful way into early fall's flowers of goldenrod and aster. kids still bicker, but they come together, too. we amble together around the pond's edges, filling up with this goodness before heading home for dinner. just an ordinary day.
