Hello there, friend,

Yesterday I tried to incorporate more of a Sabbath mindset into my day. It was Sunday after all, but that's not enough to call it a Sabbath. I've been spending each morning working through Wayne Muller's Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives, reading one small section at a time, mulling over what he has to say about slowing down, paying attention, and resting.

There's much to be said for a day when there's no rushing around (not even to church!), taking a long nap, doing crafts at the table, and watching football all afternoon. There's something to be said about forgetting the many tasks of the coming week and the work that will have to be done first thing Monday morning. There's something to be said for being quiet and still, even as the world spins madly around.

So I begin this week feeling a bit more refreshed than usual. It's a very good feeling.
