Hello there, friend,
After a week of no school, we are back in it again -- getting lunches ready, looking for shoes, having the argument about whether snow pants are necessary (the answer, with five inches of snow on the ground, is yes!). Part of me feels obligated to guide my daughter through her routine, especially since we haven't done it in over a week. Another part of me wants to let her have her way and face the natural consequences of being unprepared. Especially when she wants to fight. I don't want to fight.
Somehow we got it all together. She packed up and bundled up and headed to the end of the driveway to wait for the bus. I grabbed her by the straps of her backpack and pulled her in close for a hug and a kiss. Do your best today, I said, I love you! And then she was gone.
So now I am left here with my Monday: a little cleaning up, a lot of work to catch up on, and hopefully a few minutes to rest and enjoy the quiet this afternoon. That's what I missed most over the break: quiet. I'll be on the hunt for some today.
