Hello there, friend,
I was reminded last week about what drew me to photography many years ago: the beautiful ordinary. Before I learned to look around and capture with my camera, the idea of beauty was elusive. The concept that we should slow down and enjoy our lives was foreign. But then the light and the camera and the thing that happens when it's in my hands. It's nothing short of magic. The beautiful ordinary.
It's been a year now that we've been sharing here. Part of me thinks, how can that be? The other part (the more cynical one) thinks this has been one long year. And yet! What would this year have been without this project? How much lonelier, how much more withdrawn. I wonder how many times I would have opened a notebook, written a letter, lifted my camera. How deeply this project connects me not just to you, but to myself. And, of course, to all of the beautiful people who follow along. Where, oh where, would we be without them?
