Hello there, friend,

Not long ago, I was feeling so beaten down by my to-do list. I love to make lists and cross things off. I think I'm very good at it. Except when I'm not and life gets in the way, and day after day I can't seem to get anything accomplished. I bought myself a planner in July and the entire system is built on making lists, creating projects, and breaking everything down into manageable chunks. Even that only gets me so far.

So what I decided to do is not far off from what you suggest. I started keeping track of what I've gotten done. I still keep a to-do list so I know what I have to get accomplished, but rarely does that list say "play cards with the kids for thirty minutes" or "take a spontaneous walk to the library" or "have a three hour long conversation with my husband about our family." Those things are rarely planned, but I've been keeping track in the same planner when I make my to-do lists. They are my done lists, the lists of things that make up my life, not just my projects. They are the stuff of life that make everything else matter.
