Hello there, friend,

Today is the first day of school. My husband and I got our daughter on the bus, drove our son to his school, then headed into the city for a coffee to celebrate. It didn't feel like much of a celebration though, more like a recognition. Here we are, ready for another year -- let's take a moment to feel this.

I am filled with joy at watching my children launch and also sad to know that their babyhood is over. They are now both school-aged children and we are no longer new parents. We are seasoned, we've been tested. We are more confident, and also aware at how quickly days are slipping into years. And today I want to celebrate this, recognize it, call it what it is -- bittersweet.
