hello there, friend,
you are so smart to protect your newfound time. it is a precious precious commodity and you are wise not to fill it up right away. i find for me, that new seasons take some getting used to. the rhythm takes some time to emerge. i'm still finding my rhythm even though we are four weeks into the school year. i'm finding i have to fiercely protect the time that's mine alone.
what's working for me lately is getting up before the kids and drinking my first cups of coffee with a book in a dark and quiet house, taking advantage of the margin throughout my day to breathe in and out, making healthy meals for us to eat together, reading a book in bed instead of watching tv, walking in the evening when it's a little cooler and when the sky turns pink and orange and red, running the dishwasher every single day, listening to podcasts that remind me that i'm enough - that we all are, looking my kiddos in the eye when i ask about their day, connecting with friends via email, and mentally counting up gratitudes at the end of the day.
